Greg was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Hull–Aylmer in October 2015. In November 2021, he was appointed to the Privy Council as an advisor with a focus on emerging and prospective issues facing Canada. Since March 2021, Greg has also been Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, as well as Parliamentary Secretary to the President of Treasury Board. Greg previously served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Digital Government and to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development. He is a member of the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics, and previously served on the Standing Committee on Finance. Greg is the director of the Canada-Africa Parliamentary Association, vice-president of the Canada-Germany Interparliamentary Group, and co-chair of the CARICOM Friendship Group. He is a founding member of the Parliamentary Black Caucus, which he chaired until April 2022, and also chaired the Liberal Black Caucus during the same period. Greg has always actively participated in his community. He encourages people to get involved and to work together to fight isolation and build a sense of community. He enjoys organizing café-croissant meetings, public townhalls, and other community events throughout the Hull–Aylmer riding. Passionate about running, politics and jazz, he is proud of his community’s accomplishments, especially environmental sustainability (– or affordable housing?). Greg has a strong background in politics. Previously, he worked as a policy advisor and senior policy advisor in a number of ministerial offices. He also worked at all levels of the Liberal Party of Canada, including as National Director, where he introduced change and innovation that made operations and outreach stronger, helping restore it to today’s modern appeal.
He holds two bachelor’s degrees—in social sciences and in international relations, and has also undertaken graduate studies in the latter. Over the past 25 years, he has worked in the private, public, not-for-profit and academic sectors. Greg and his wife, Julie, are the proud parents of three adult children and doting grandparents to two grandsons.
